The Beauty by the Geeks team all have one thing in common…

we LOVE science!

Our team of scientists have a diverse range of interests both inside and outside the lab, but it’s our love for the science behind our lotions and potions which brings us all together!

Beauty by the Geeks is an unbiased, evidence-driven beauty blog that uses scientific research to review beauty products and the claims behind them. We are here to find out what actually works and has the evidence to prove it!

Whether it’s demystifying the tongue-twisting ingredients list of a high-street product, quizzing industry experts on the latest beauty must-haves or giving the low-down on common beauty problems, we are here to explain it all in a way that’s accessible to everyone.

We design and deliver a range of workshops, courses and events aimed to engage, enthuse and educate a range of audiences and make science, in all its forms and brilliance, understood by everyone – click here to view our courses.

Meet all the geeks

Our happy clients

“Beauty By The Geeks have presented at a variety of activities in schools and have always delivered engaging and simulating activities for the pupils to get involved in. They have challenged our pupils’ views on their ability and interest in science and there have been many “light bulb” moments. Every activity is well planned and delivered at the appropriate level with challenge at all levels. Feedback from schools is always extremely positive and they always want more.”
Judith Liddle, Schools Participation Officer, North Tyneside Council
I was first introduced to Beauty by the Geeks at a STEMette event where I was impressed by their passion for science and their business acumen so much so that I invited them to be a part of our “Could IT be you?” Finalist Day. On the day they were a great success; their approachable manner resonated with the girls and inspired them to think outside of the box. They spoke enthusiastically about science and the benefits of considering a STEM career, which encouraged and engaged the girls.
Susan Cooklin, CIO and Director of Shared Services, Network Rail
“We are thrilled to be working with Brigitte West and her team to start the very first Scientista chapter in the UK! Their passion and dedication to empowering women in STEM is evident by the incredible success of their first events. We are looking forward to continuing to see them grow and thrive.”
Christina and Julia Tartaglia, Scientista Foundation
“Beauty by the Geeks workshops are an excellent motivational tool in helping to raise the perception of STEM with our students at Marden High School. Their approach to Science is new, fun and engaging. Their modern approach creates a captivating and memorable experience for students and helps them to become autonomous independent learners.”
David Marshall, Assistant Headteacher, Marden High School
“As part of its Science in Schools programme, the British Council France organised a series of Beauty by the Geeks workshops in nine secondary schools of the académie of Bordeaux in October 2014. I personally really enjoyed participating in the workshops and seeing how the students (and teachers!) interacted with the Beauty by the Geeks team. I think that feeling is best summarised in this quote from a student at Lycée Brémontier, Bordeaux. “It was very interesting. I learnt some new things on my skin. I learnt recipes and how to take care of it and now I know that science can be cool. Merci!”
Claire Nassiet, British Council
“The Beauty by the Geeks team delivered workshops at The Big Bang London. This is a free event for students aged 8-18 with the aim of inspiring young people with the potential of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) both in study and careers. The workshops devised and delivered by Beauty by the Geeks not only met but exceeded the brief. They successfully combined science, creativity and enterprise to create a session that captured the imagination and enthusiasm of students of all ages – and of both girls and boys. Their passion and attention to detail is exceptional, making Beauty by the Geeks a pleasure to work with and a real asset to any project.”
