Coffee is the first thing we crave in the morning when our brain is not ticking over properly. But to drink, not to starting rubbing it all over our skin!

However, times are changing girls and boys! That morning lattee is soon going to be with a side order of some caffeine prods (a little bit of an exaggeration maybe…)

With an increasing amount of products on the market exploiting the beneficial effects of caffeine, we thought we would have go at making a caffeine mask ourselves. It’s gone down great amongst the Geeks but if you try it please leave a comment and let us know how you get on!

Caffeine Injection

Perfect for revitalising dull, tired skin!

1/2 Cup ground coffee beans

1/2 Cup Cocoa Powder

1 Cup of Whole Milk

1 Tbsp of Olive Oil/ Almond Oil

1 Tbsp of Honey

A Few Drops of Vitamin E

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and Voila!! Apply to your face and leave for 30 mins.

The Savvy Science

Caffeine has potent anti oxidant properties and protects your skin cells from environmental pollutants and UV damage, slowing down the process of ageing. It has been shown to increase circulation to the skin (helping new cells flourish!) and if you use circular massaging motions the coffee granules this will increase this and also act as a exfoliator to get rid of any dead cells!

As we love a good anti-oxidant (they’re helping us stay young, what’s not to like???) we’ve thrown in Vitamin E and Chocolate too!

Olive Oil/ Almond Oil are in the mix because they have superb moisturising properties that help to revitalise the skin by replenishing lost natural oils.
