Parabens are some of the oldest cosmetic preservatives. They are used worldwide, having been ruled as safe by every world health authority. Sadly, there is a lot of scaremongering ‘studies’ out there (which have now been widely debunked), including allegations that they can cause cancer. This is just simply NOT TRUE! None of the extensive research that has been carried out on parabens has indicated a potential risk to human health.  Parabens remain among some of the safest ways to preserve cosmetics and are essential to keep products safe from bacteria, mould and fungi.
Final amended report on the safety assessment of Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isopropylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben, and Benzylparaben as used in cosmetic products.
