We’ve all been there… that ‘just one drink’ last night seemed to lead to another, and perhaps even another. Now the alarm has gone off and you have to attend lunch with your parents or a shopping date with the girls. Luckily for you, we have all best tips on facing the world, when really, a tub of Ben and Jerry’s and a Netflix binge sounds so much more appealing…

Rehydrate the dehydrated

As we all know, too much alcohol massively dehydrates us and this can affect our skin (and coincidently, dehydration is the reason behind the hangover headache!). A great way to stop the giveaway complexion is to use a really intense moisturiser or even better, a moisturising mask (we have loads to choose from on the blog). While we are on the topic of dehydration, our best advice to you is drink water like it’s going out of fashion. If possible, drink water before you go to bed to ward off the fuzzy head the next morning!

Depuff the bags

The skin around our eyes is five times thinner than the rest of our bodies; so naturally, it will be the first to show those tell tale signs of a great night out. A combination of tiredness and dehydration can lead to those dreaded dark circles and puffy eyes, so what can we do about them? There is no miracle cure to banish the bags but thankfully, the Beauty Geeks have reviewed a catalogue full of great products targeted at the delicate eye area here. We Particularly love Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream.

Remove your make up

We know your cleansing routine normally goes out of the window after a couple of mojitos, and you want nothing more than to kick off your heels and head straight to bed. However, leaving your make up on overnight can dull your complexion and clog pores, which then leads to spotty outbreaks. If you didn’t manage to remove it before going to bed, make sure you do a good cleanse when you get up. Don’t fall victim to trying to touch up last nights makeup remnants either… it NEVER works.

Beauty sleep

We know it might be difficult to get the recommended 8 hours sleep if you have been dancing the night away but try and get bed as early as possible as studies have shown that sleep deprivation can lead to the appearance of dark circles and puffy eyes, as well as pale skin and an increased appearance of lines and wrinkles. We know that probably seems quite an obvious one, but it’s nice to have some science to back it up!

If all else fails, fake it with highlighter and bronzer to give your complexion that much needed kick, or grab a huge pair of sunglasses on your way out to hide those tired peepers.
