Highlighter is considered a staple in any girls make up bag, most of us rely on it to give our skin a little oomph after a bad nights sleep, or perhaps one too many cocktails! So it came as a huge shock to find out that make up artists were throwing norm out of the window and abandoning highlighters for NYFW. Not that there were models walking down the runway with dull, flat complexions, quite the contrary. Instead, their cheekbones were glistening as a result of expertly placed moisturiser!

Never has a backstage trend been more time appropriate and it’s not like the Beauty Geeks say no to an opportunity for extra moisturising, especially during winter!

Below are some of our favourite moisturisers to help you achieve that catwalk glow…

Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser

Liz Earle have certainly crammed lots of natural ingredients into this product. Oils from cranberry, rosehip, neroli and borage, not to mention the iconic shea butter and pomegranate extract to add to the concoction. Liz Earle has conjured up a competitive recipe for a daily moisturiser for dry skin, with promises of skin hydration certainly fulfilled!  It’s may not be the easiest on the back pocket, at £39 a jar, but it looks like many of you already admit that you can’t resist splashing out on this one!

NARS Luminous Moisture Cream

According to NARS, this moisturiser will give a hit of luminosity to skin that has lost some of its natural radiance, whilst offering anti-oxidant protection against free radical damage. As the moisturising ingredients in this formulation are reliable favourites, we’re happy that this cream could give dry skin a boost as we head into winter. Although the Light Reflecting Complex isn’t exactly revolutionary, these ingredients combined with good skin hydration from the moisturising ingredients will help improve skin luminosity and help us on our way to achieving that glow.

This rich cream can instantly hydrate skin, and leave it looking plumper for up to 24 hours after application. We were pleased to find these claims were backed by a whole host of super moisturising ingredients that will be able to hydrate and soothe dry skin.

Lush Million Dollar Moisturiser

If there’s one thing we’ve seen in this formula, it’s moisturizing properties! Both the oils and shea butter aid in the replenishment of the skin’s moisture whereas the glycerin and honey act to help the skin hold onto this hydration, creating a luxuriously moisturising formula. There’s also added benefit that the Million Dollar Moisturiser simultaneously protects your skin from the sun’s harmful ray, helping keep premature ageing from the sun at bay. Here at Beauty by the Geeks, we feel that for £32.50, it is a little on the pricier side for Lush, but this product looks like it packs a serious hydration punch, so we think it’s worth the money!

Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser

Gone are the days when a good moisturiser was simply expected to keep dry skin at bay. They now come packed with added key ingredients to combat additional problems like acne and uneven skin tone – and The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser seems to be no exception.
